Secret of the Kingdom

17 September 2009 6 Comments

Here is another amazingly important passage: Jesus told a parable and then said, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone.”

So, this means that leadership & society, particularly at times of paradigm shift in understanding God’s movement, sometimes hate the message. They reject it. God knows this and predicted it in Psalm 118. In Zechariah, a book very seldom quoted, lies the opposite of this rejection and a secret of the Kingdom.

A Secret of the Kingdom

We are told there in Zechariah Chapter 4, “It is not by might, not by power but by my Spirit says the Lord.” This is spectacularly simple. Our motive energy and drive, our “we can do anything we set our minds to do” attitude, is completely at odds with this. Zechariah saw the king, Zerubbabel, standing with nothing but a plumb-line to build a new temple. The world laughs, even rejects such “foolishness.” However, God is saying, “Do not despise the day of small things (only a plumbline with no materials or money to build a temple.) Then we are given the passage above, that it will not be his personal force, his governing authority or any other human vehicle that would rebuild the temple as in this specific case. God will build His temple.

So, if you are not living in this dimension, God is inviting us to come into it: he is not interested in our power and authority as it is not enough and we know it. This is a major key to understanding the days we live from now to the return of Christ:

  1. If you need a miracle, do not try to help God.
  2. It will not be through your clever moves, your charisma or talents that God resolves your problem bigger than life. It also excludes your force of values, martial strength, wealth, valor or any other means or resources.
  3. As we approach the return of Christ He said things would get rough. When they do, we must be unafraid of the power dimension of God. If we do not embrace God’s “miraculous” then we will not make it through. Read Matthew 24 if you do not know what I am speaking about.

You might be faced with giant financial problems. I talked about this earlier-God is demonstrating to the world, spiritual and physical, our faith. Let Him. You might be faced with unrelenting health problems. Job faced both of these. Again, it is not going to be the might and power of the world that heal you; rather it will be His Spirit. It was not by might or power but by God’s spirit that Job recovered. It was by God’s Spirit, actually, that Job got into his troubles!

I think we have, in the wealthy west, the most awful time believing God will perform money miracles. I think we have equal doubt about health. Healings and financial miracles happen daily all over the world. But, if there is any hedging with the God of money, you are in big danger. If you think your cleverness can heal a broken heart or a broken body, think again. These are the two big issues in the news today, and this is what God says about money and health: “..by my spirit says the Lord.”Just say, “Lord, this is my body broken” and let Him deal with it.

In a future post I will speak about what this god of Mammon is like in more detail. The terrible truth about money can be dismissed by a few words, “For we brought nothing into this world and we surely will not take anything out with us.” That is the unpower in eternity of money.

Consider this: is something in your life, some challenge, exposing doubt or unbelief that you did not know was there? Does it scare you? Fear not. That is what God does to give us our inheritance! He exposes these things in our hearts because He loves us. For people of great faith, He digs deep, so fear not. Perhaps your need is for a growth miracle, not exactly what you think.

Thank you for the encouragement to believe and wait for God. “It is not by might, not by power but by my Spirit says the Lord”, a simple truth that we often forget.

I know that our God is a god of miracles, I see evidence of that all the time.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder that God can and will take care of things without us, but we – can not do anything without HIM.

I’m so thankful that I can do all things through Christ – I just have to remember to let go and let GOD!!

I enjoy your posts – thank you for sharing your heart with us!
