Sitting Under A Fig Tree

3 September 2009 7 Comments

There is a powerful message that is a key to what we have discussed recently together: community comes from revival. Breakthrough is the Lord’s hand removing the barriers to the blessing and glory of God living among us and on us. Zechariah experienced an amazing vision. He saw God rebuke the accuser, satan, who stood by Joshua the High Priest. Joshua was in filthy clothes. The angel then directed that the filthy garments be replaced and a new turban also be placed on his head. There was much more. It is one of the most dramatic visions I have heard.

I just want to comment for your meditation the results of the breakthrough. What will this one day cleansing of a nation look like the next day? Holiness and cleanliness comes from the hand of God. Notice this is held in the leaders responsibility as a symbol of a corrupted nation to the core. However, when the leaders are faithful, things are well with the people. I wrote on this in April and suggest that over Labor Day weekend you might read these two blogposts from the past. They speak of how leaders block God’s work and how God will deal with them. More than that it gives the heart of God for you.

Neglected People Called Directly by the Spirit

Corrupt Leaders Offer False Peace and Superficial Healing.

Some of our leaders will survive this paradigm shift currently happening like a virus. These leaders will come out changed-transformed more properly stated. They will take off any corruption and disobedience and will live for the benefit of the people for God.

What will that look like? Community: a community of love will result immediately from what the angel does to this priest and to all the other priests, symbols of all leaders. Here is the promise:

In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come under his vine and under his fig tree.” Zechariah 3:10

What does that mean? I think it means we will instantly have “high intensity” hospitality and love for EVERYONE. That is what we see the days after Pentecost, another breakthrough time. They worshipped and broke bread house to house. They were wired, and wired to love. That is the mark of a believer in fellowship with God and fully connected in the Spirt–LOVE.

In another passage, God mentioned this: “..but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree and no one shall make them afraid. Micah 4:4, ref I Kings 4:25. This time, however, the wonderful prosperity of the vines and figs, representing abundance and prosperity, will be accompanied by inviting EVERYONE to sit under yours and with you! If this hits us, we will be prepared better for big changes as at Pentecost again. We are moving into the greatest demonstration of love and community ever in history in my opinion.

If you bookmark these posts read them over the weekend when you want to look at how the Kingdom works and what God thinks about leaders who are not fit to lead.

Thank you Bob, for what you wrote above: “If this hits us, we will be prepared for BIG CHANGES AS AT PENTECOST again. We are moving into THE GREATEST DEMONSTRATION OF LOVE AND COMMUNITY EVER in history”.

An immediate result of Pentecost was that “All that believed were together, and had all things common” (Acts 2:44); “And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common” (Acts 4:32)!

This was NOT a form of Communism, but it was a true COMMUNITY OF LOVE! And Jesus said that “By this shall ALL MEN know that you are My disciples, IF YOU HAVE LOVE one to another” (John 13:35). May God help us, Spirit-filled Christians, to not conform to the world’s ways of selfishness, but to take others under our vines and our fig trees, and to be a TRUE WITNESS of God’s love!

This is exactly what the Lord told me to do long ago, in the vision of “A tree in God’s Kingdom” (see: http://renatoamato.com/en/vfj-a-tree-in-gods-kingdom/)! We’re both listening to the same voice!

Bob you have spoken th eheart of God with theese words. His love is so deep and so long and so high for his children, not only for those who worship Him, but for those who are lost and far from Him right now. The harvest is ripe and ready, and He is raising up workers as we speak. Well done my brother, keep sending God’s word to us as He reveals them to you.

Thank you Bob! I like what you stated here! “If this hits us, we will be prepared for big changes as at Pentecost again. We are moving into the greatest demonstration of love and community ever in history.”

If Spirit-filled Christians want to truly impact the world with a “great domonstration of love”, then we need to not conform to the selfish ways of the world, but we need to start “inviting our neighbor to come under our vine and our fig tree”! For “By this shall all men know that you are My disciples”, Jesus said, “if you have love one to another!” (John 13:35)

This is exactly what the Lord told me a long time ago, when He gave the vision of “A tree in God’s Kingdom”.

Thanks for coming and commenting, David. Yes, it is not to literally just “sit under the vine” but who-the sheep who need rest! Thanks for that.
