Two Dreams on the Same Night: Running a Touchdown (Part 1)
On June 26, 2009, I dreamed similar dreams the same night. They were important to me.
The first dream showed a man receiving a handoff & running to the right with his American football team. Suddenly, he saw a large opening left. So, he made what football insiders call a cutback: he reversed the direction of his run from right to left. None of the other players could adjust as rapidly as he to the shift and he had a clear shot. Running very fast, he could run a long score on that play without even being touched, much less tackled and stopped.
I was studying and thinking of Isaiah 54 and 2 Samuel 5 when these dreams occurred. I will post dream 2 in the next bahamabob.com entry. These passages are about Breakthrough. I am capitalizing the word so that it is a major concept corporately, even nationally, and not just for an individual. I plan to post a page under “Reflections” about Breakthrough.
In 2 Samuel, the final part of Chapter 5 is God’s strategy for defeating the Philistines (which God had so long desired to be destroyed but could not find an obedient leader until David.) To read that Scripture passage go to: http://bit.ly/LG7Ht
So, the idea was to do exactly what God said; David locked himself up away from distraction and sought God. God spoke and told him to go directly at the enemy. He did and they were defeated. However, the Philistines restored the defeated remnant of their army and came back into the valley to attack David. This second time God told David to move his army into the “balm” trees (sometimes translated mulberry) and wait for the wind to blow in the tops of the trees; on that signal he was to advance an ambush, very different strategy-a sudden shift in direction as in the dream.
I also was meditating on 2 Kings Chapter 7. I felt recently God say to me “2 Kings 7:14.” This was an indication that breakthrough is imminent: to read 2 Kings 7 click here: http://bit.ly/13wUic
A group of lepers, social outcasts, took a daring journey to find food in famine. They discovered the Syrian Army defeated: the army that was causing famine and death in the city of Samaria. Picking up in verse 14, the lepers failed to convince the King of Samaria that it was now safe to pillage the enemy camp, which the Syrians miraculously deserted. They did convince him to send some soldiers in two chariots to investigate. The investigation immediately revealed total routing of the Syrians. They left food and riches. This is breakthrough in times of enormous stress. This second move reminded me of the “cutback” in the dreams. The men started with a breakthrough strategy and changed it when resistance occurred.
The “cutback” is in both dreams, so I will explain more about that in the post tomorrow on dream #2. These dreams were short and seemed insignificant at first, even meaningless, but on seeking God, I saw words of direction, wisdom and even knowledge.
